The day started at 7 AM with a meeting of some great guys! Our pastors meet with a group of leaders and potential leaders at LifeBridge every other Sunday morning. These guys, all six of them, get it! They have bought into the vision to reach the unchurched and to reach the next generation. They are willing learners, involved participants, and men of God! They encourage me!
The music was so good today and the praise ascended! Our worship band has never been better! When Wade played taps, as two men carried the American and Christian flags up the aisle, I felt a huge sense of gratitude for those who have given so much to give us the freedom we enjoy today! I love America!
The sermon hit a nerve... God's Word always hits home. I am thankful God allows me to preach! The reaction to the message surprised me just a little bit. I shared 5 things we need to do as we make decisions... all 5 were simple basics. However, judging from the reaction, it was like some were hearing it for the first time. My prayer is that those 5 things will stick and we will make them a part of our lives! Check out the sermon, which will be posted in a couple of days at our website.
I met more new people today at church! God is doing something bigger than us!
I conducted a wedding ceremony today at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD. It was one of those fun life experiences! I have been involved in many weddings, but never in a baseball stadium! The weather was perfect, sunny and 75 degrees. The stadium is absolutely beautiful! Cal Ripken, Jr. did a good thing when he went back to his hometown and built this place! They are building several little league ballfields around the stadium and patterning them after major league ballparks! Fantastic idea! I never thought I would hear my voice over a ball park sound system, but I did today!
Another 20 something became a Christ follower today at the service! Let's reach the next generation LifeBridge!!!
Somebody talk to me this week on this blog! I have gotten several comments, but there are many more people reading this stuff and not saying anything! I know that because I get the statistics!!! Come on and speak up!!!! HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND?!!!
I believe in the power of prayer! I have seen God move many times in response to prayer.
Of course, God is not a genie in a bottle! We don't rub the bottle and have God pop out and grant us three wishes! He is the Sovereign of the Universe!
However, Matthew 7:7-11 is very true. There we are told to keep on asking, seeking, and knocking. We are assured that, if our earthly father, affected by sin, gives us good things when we ask, our Heavenly Father will definitely give us what is good when we ask!
James reminds us in chapter 5, verse 16, that "the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much"!
In June we are joining over 1100 other churches around the world, comprising over 700,000 believers, in One Prayer. The basic premise is this... if you could have one request for the Church, what would it be?
Here is a list of the four sermons in June at LifeBridge...
This is a powerful line up of speakers and I will be privileged to host them via video! You have to hear what they are saying!
During this month we are hosting a Prayer Rally on Wednesday, June 4, with several other area churches and pastors joining us. We are also having a 24 hour prayer meeting beginning Friday, June 13 at LifeBridge.
There will be several other things happening around prayer in June. I am anticipating a renewal of prayer in our personal lives. I am believing for a move of God in our lives!
P.S. Your prayers would be appreciated for my wife, Robyn's mom. She had a heart attack on Monday and will be undergoing a procedure in the next day or so. Robyn is flying out to St. Louis, MO to be with her. Thanks!!!
Thanks for your prayers! Robyn's mom is doing well at this time. She had the potential to react severely to the dye that was injected, but didn't. She had two arteries blocked... one doctor said 95% blockage. The stints were successfully put in and she is recovering. The doctor told the family that her heart attack on Monday was the train wreck before the earthquake. God blessed her to avoid the earthquake!
Pastor Bobby and I had an hour and forty five minute meeting today with the Maryland State Delegate for the Seventh Legislative District, my home district. It was my first time to meet Mr. Pat McDonough. It was an interesting time with an engaging man. I really appreciated what he said and have admired some of the stands he has taken. We need to pray for all our leaders in government, at every level!
If you could pray one prayer for the Church, what would it be and why? Let me hear from you!
