I believe in the power of prayer! I have seen God move many times in response to prayer.
Of course, God is not a genie in a bottle! We don't rub the bottle and have God pop out and grant us three wishes! He is the Sovereign of the Universe!
However, Matthew 7:7-11 is very true. There we are told to keep on asking, seeking, and knocking. We are assured that, if our earthly father, affected by sin, gives us good things when we ask, our Heavenly Father will definitely give us what is good when we ask!
James reminds us in chapter 5, verse 16, that "the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much"!
In June we are joining over 1100 other churches around the world, comprising over 700,000 believers, in One Prayer. The basic premise is this... if you could have one request for the Church, what would it be?
Here is a list of the four sermons in June at LifeBridge...
This is a powerful line up of speakers and I will be privileged to host them via video! You have to hear what they are saying!
During this month we are hosting a Prayer Rally on Wednesday, June 4, with several other area churches and pastors joining us. We are also having a 24 hour prayer meeting beginning Friday, June 13 at LifeBridge.
There will be several other things happening around prayer in June. I am anticipating a renewal of prayer in our personal lives. I am believing for a move of God in our lives!
P.S. Your prayers would be appreciated for my wife, Robyn's mom. She had a heart attack on Monday and will be undergoing a procedure in the next day or so. Robyn is flying out to St. Louis, MO to be with her. Thanks!!!
WOW, "God is NOT a genie in a bottle". I need to use this. I have a dear friend who is going through tuff times. She tells me she prays all the time, but shes praying for materialistic stuff! She just doesnt get it! Gods NOT a genie in a bottle! and the things shes praying for will not help, but could actually make things worse. We had another long deep conversation just lastnight and especially here recently, many of our conversations seem to wear me down and out. Pastor Mike, Thank You so much for the Encouragement ... This was just the post I needed to read this morning. Now I have a renewed energy for the next long deep 3am conversation! Im not giving up!
PS, Im sorry to hear about Robyns mom. I'll be praying for mothers strength to endure the procedure and for Robyn as well, caring for loved ones and being so far from home is so physically and emotionally demanding.
