In "church circles", we hear the term, "summer slump" used. People who use that phrase are usually referring to the dip in attendance and offerings in the summer because people go on vacations.
We all could use a good vacation... nothing at all wrong with that! The time away for rest and recreation is very good for our bodies, souls, and minds!
However, should we give in to going backwards as a church? In other words, do we really have to just accept the "fact" that everything about church ministry should go on hold for the summer?
NO WAY! God is still on His throne, people are still around who are far from God and need Him, and there is still work to be done.
Let's take our well deserved vacations, but let's also come back refreshed and join the mission. Let's keep going forward, full speed ahead.
My heart's desire and prayer is that, at LifeBridge Church this summer, we will experience growth in all areas. It is possible.
This past Sunday we had three more adults make professions of faith! We baptized seven people. The attendance was good, even though it's summer and it was a holiday weekend. There were more first time visitors this Sunday, seven to be exact. The offering was good.
That doesn't tell the whole story. God is working in lives in ways that is hard to measure.
Bottom line... we aren't laying down and accepting a "summer slump"! We are expecting a "summer strengthening" as we trust God to do a mighty thing in us and through us.
